The purpose of the Recreation Ministry of Faith Baptist Church is for our members and prospects to be able to fellowship and encourage one another through the medium of sports.

We strive to provide a fun environment for our children, youth and adults to grow spiritually through sports and recreation. The Faith Baptist Recreation Ministry is an outreach to persons of all ages. We seek to combine the gift of leisure with the companionship of Christ.

See you at Buckhead,

Ken Cox

Ken Cox, Recreation Director
Diane and I are charter members of Faith Baptist Church. I was blessed to be able to design and help build Buckhead Creek, our Recreation Complex. While growing up in Louisville, KY, sports has always been a vital part of my life. After graduating from Union University with a Recreation and Secondary Education Degree, I have been able to teach, coach football and serve as Recreation Consultant for the Mid-South Baptist Association. Since January 2000, I have served as Faith's Recreation Director. I believe church recreation can be used as a tool for ministry at the local church. It is a great opportunity for outreach while also providing time for great fellowship among the church family. Diane and I have three grown children – Brian, Mandy and Kim. We also have five grandchildren- Kenny, Lucas, Ella, Emme and Lyric. In my spare time I enjoy golf, spending time with the family, watching games at Buckhead and cheering for my Louisville Cardinals.

Brian Rowell, Recreation Assistant
I began serving at Faith in May of 2010 after graduating from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Arts in Park and Recreation Management. I believe recreation is a great opportunity for community outreach and Christian fellowship. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my wife, Tracy, fellowshipping with great friends and watching college football.

Shannon Gregg, Buckhead Creek Grounds Supervisor
I came to Memphis in 1995 from my hometown of Newport, TN. I started at Faith part-time, doing maintenance and yard work and volunteering with the Audio Visual and Youth departments. In 2000, I became the Grounds Supervisor at Buckhead Creek. I am truly grateful to God for my church family, friends and co-workers. I am blessed to have them in my life.

Basketball Leagues
We begin forming church teams for children and youth basketball in September.  These leagues play from the first of December until the end of February.  All games are played at local churches.
Our UPWARD program for K5 through 2nd grade plays on Saturday mornings at Faith.
There is also a Men’s Connection Class League that plays March through April.

March is the sign-up month for Summer Baseball and Softball Leagues.  We provide teams for T-ball through adults.  All games are played at Buckhead Creek.  Leagues begin play in May and continue through August.

Fall Softball
Registration is in August.  Men play on Mondays, ladies on Tuesdays and Adult Coed on Thursdays during September and October at Buckhead.

Adult Volleyball
Leagues for Connection Classes play during March and April in our gym.

Soccer Leagues
Registration for soccer is in July.  We provide leagues for 4-18 year olds.  All games are played at Buckhead Creek during September and October.

Golf Scrambles
During the summer and fall we schedule four golf tournaments.  These four person scrambles are played at local golf courses.  In our tournaments, all players are winners (UPWARD golf!).

4th of July Celebration
On a Sunday evening close to the 4th of July, we invite the community to join us as we celebrate our country’s birthday at Buckhead Creek.  You may bring your picnic supper and blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy the entertainment followed by “The Best Fireworks in Memphis”.  Chartered shuttle busses are provided from the church parking lot to the park for your convenience.
