Last Thursday, October 18th, Faith got to be a part of Donuts for Dads at Douglass K-8 school. It was a very neat experience, getting to go and be a blessing not only to the school by supplying resources for their event, but also to be a smiling face to the kids and dads that had come. It was incredible to see how many dads came and seeing them get to have some time with their kids, eating and laughing and enjoying each other’s company.
There were many men from Faith present to sit with the kids who did not have their fathers in attendance. That was another blessing. The school had allowed the kids whose dads had come to go into the gym first and we were told that the other kids had been crying because they thought they would not get to join since their dads didn’t come. Once the men from Faith brought the other kids in, all of their faces were lit up with joy, knowing they were cared for, not alone, and got to enjoy some donuts with their friends!
It was a very humbling experience, getting to see Faith’s helping hand in action at Douglass. Angie and I are so thankful to have had volunteers from our church staff as well as Faith’s Men’s Ministry to come out and help us. Being a part of the community is something we are very passionate about and I am so thankful that Faith is a church that cares so much for the people outside its doors (as the church should!)
